The operation was conducted in relation to the SACLEO, with coordination from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Police identified the subject of the search warrant as alias “Jer,” 38, who was described as unemployed, living with a partner, and a resident of Barangay Cabalquinto, Calubian.
Authorities said the search was conducted in the presence of the lawful occupant, barangay officials, and a media representative.
During the operation, police reported recovering five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a .45-caliber pistol without markings, one .45-caliber magazine, three .45-caliber ammunition, and other non-drug evidence.
The recovered items were reportedly marked, inventoried, and documented at the place of the search in the presence of the required witnesses, including the lawful occupant, an elected public official, and a media representative.
Police said the procedure was undertaken to comply with the chain-of-custody requirements under Republic Act No. 9165 and its implementing rules and regulations.
PMAJ Cabañas said the Calubian MPS would continue its efforts against illegal drugs and other criminal activities in the municipality.
“We remain committed to keeping Calubian safe. Calubian Pulis will continue to exert all efforts in combating crimes involving illegal drugs and other criminal activities,” Cabañas said.

MAYORGA, Leyte — Police arrested a 40-year-old man identified as a street-level individual (SLI) during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Roque, Mayorga, Leyte, on September 24, 2026, resulting in the seizure of four sachets of suspected shabu, police said.
The operation was conducted by the Mayorga Municipal Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit under the Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO), led by Provincial Director PCOL Celerino M. Sacro Jr. The unit was headed by PLT Glenn P. Chavero, Officer-in-Charge.
Police identified the arrested suspect as alias “Rex,” 40, a fisherman and resident of Barangay San Roque. Authorities described him as a street-level individual involved in the illegal drug trade.
According to the police report, a poseur-buyer purchased one sachet of suspected shabu from the suspect during the operation. Police then recovered three additional sachets of suspected shabu from his possession, along with buy-bust money and other drug paraphernalia.
The suspected shabu recovered during the operation had a combined estimated weight of 0.40 gram, with an estimated street value of ₱2,720, according to authorities.
Police said the seized items were immediately marked and inventoried at the place of arrest in the presence of the suspect, a barangay kagawad, and a media representative.
Authorities also said the suspect was informed of the reason for his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language or dialect that he understood.
The arrested man and the recovered evidence were brought to the Mayorga Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition. The suspected drugs were subsequently submitted to the PNP Regional Forensic Unit 8 (RFU8) for qualitative and quantitative laboratory examination.
Police said charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended by Republic Act No. 10640, were being prepared against the suspect.
Section 5 covers the illegal sale of dangerous drugs, while Section 11 addresses the illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
LPPO Provincial Director PCOL Sacro Jr. commended the Mayorga police personnel involved in the operation.

LPPO Arrests HVI, Two SLIs in Baybay City Buy-Bust Operation; Suspected Shabu Seized
BAYBAY CITY, Leyte — Police arrested three individuals, including a person identified as a high-value individual (HVI) and two alleged street-level individuals (SLIs), during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Plaridel, Baybay City, Leyte, on September 26, 2026, according to the Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO).
The operation resulted in the seizure of 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, with an estimated gross weight of approximately 5.9 grams and an estimated street value of ₱40,120, police said.
The operation was carried out by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Baybay City Police Station (CPS) under the leadership of PCOL Celerino M. Sacro Jr., Provincial Director of the LPPO.
The CDEU was led by PCPT Esteven M. Pagtabunan, Deputy Chief of Police, under the direct supervision of PLTCOL Dexter V. Edillo, Chief of Police.
Three suspects arrested
Police identified the arrested individuals as alias “Intoy,” 35, single and a resident of Barangay Plaridel, Baybay City, who was identified by authorities as an HVI.
Also arrested were alias “Jaymar,” 45, married and a fisherman from Barangay Dos Del Sur, Hindang, Leyte, and alias “Jun,” 24, single and a construction worker from Barangay Bulacan, Hindang, Leyte. Both were identified by police as SLIs.
According to the LPPO, the operation followed a suspected illegal drug transaction that resulted in the arrest of the three individuals.
During the operation, a police poseur-buyer reportedly completed a transaction and purchased one heat-sealed plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.
Police then conducted a subsequent search and recovery operation, which allegedly resulted in the seizure of nine additional heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu.
This brought the total drug evidence seized to 10 sachets, with a reported estimated gross weight of about 5.9 grams.
Aside from the suspected illegal drugs, authorities also recovered the buy-bust money, one pouch, and one cellular phone, according to the police report.
Evidence documented
The LPPO said the confiscated items were properly marked and inventoried at the place of arrest in the presence of the arrested suspects and required witnesses.
Among those present during the inventory were an elected public official, a representative from the Department of Justice–National Prosecution Service (DOJ-NPS), and a media representative, according to authorities.
The police said the procedure was conducted in compliance with applicable legal requirements governing the handling and documentation of seized drug evidence.
Following the operation, the three arrested individuals and the confiscated drug and non-drug evidence were brought to the Baybay City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.
The suspected drug evidence was subsequently submitted to the Ormoc City Forensic Unit for qualitative and quantitative laboratory examination.
Charges being prepared
Police said a criminal complaint is being prepared against the suspects for alleged violations of Section 5, or the illegal sale of dangerous drugs, and Section 11, or illegal possession of dangerous drugs, under Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The filing of the complaint will be subject to the appropriate legal proceedings and evaluation by the competent authorities.
The LPPO stressed that the operation forms part of its continuing campaign against illegal drugs through targeted and intelligence-driven police operations.
Police leadership commends operating team
LPPO Provincial Director PCOL Celerino M. Sacro Jr. commended the personnel of the Baybay City Police Station for their work during the operation.

Former CTG Member Surrenders in Leyte, Turns Over Homemade Shotgun
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — A 53-year-old former member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Calubian, Leyte, and turned over a homemade shotgun and three rounds of ammunition, according to the Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO).
The surrender took place in Barangay Cristina, Calubian, Leyte, on September 26, 2026. The individual, identified by authorities by the alias “Maui,” is a married resident of Barangay Barayong, Carigara, Leyte.
The LPPO said the surrender was facilitated by the 2nd Leyte Provincial Mobile Force Company (LPMFC), in coordination with the Provincial Intelligence Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit 8, 805th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8, and the Calubian Municipal Police Station.
According to the police, sustained dialogue, engagement and coordination with the former CTG member helped encourage him to disengage from the group and return to civilian life.
During the surrender, “Maui” turned over one homemade shotgun without markings and three rounds of ammunition. Police said the firearm and ammunition were received by the 2nd LPMFC for documentation, safekeeping and appropriate disposition.
The surrenderer was also placed under the custody of the unit for processing under existing government mechanisms and programs, the LPPO said.
LPPO Provincial Director Police Colonel Celerino M. Sacro Jr. commended the personnel involved, saying the surrender reflected continued efforts to encourage individuals formerly associated with armed groups to return to the folds of the law.
The police said the effort is consistent with the government's whole-of-nation approach under Executive Order No. 70, which promotes coordination among government agencies and other stakeholders in addressing armed conflict and pursuing peace initiatives.
The LPPO said it will continue its coordination and community engagement activities in support of peace and security efforts in Leyte.
