The Taguig city government stops support to PDEA after its agents were caught with shabu in Bicutan

The city government of Taguig has stopped providing support for the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) after the arrest of some shabu agents in Bicutan recently. In the statement released by the local government, it dismayed and condemned the illegal drug activities of the PDEA Southern District Office involving the chief himself, 2 agents and a driver who were arrested in the very building owned by the city government that serves as the office of the PDEA there. He said it was a betrayal of the law. The city government further said that the criminal participation of drug enforcers in illegal drug activities using the facilities provided by the city is despicable and unacceptable. Therefore, the local government is reconsidering the loan of the building to PDEA due to the involvement of PDEA officials in the illegal drug trade that they are supposed to suppress. The city government still insists that those involved should be held accountable to the law. -- Advertisement -- According to the LGU, they gave said building to PDEA in 2018 as support to the agency. However, the wind changed after the incident where the LGU is returning the headquarters to the city to be used for other public uses. At the time when the agency can show its serious efforts to suppress the scalawags or corrupt personnel of the agency then the city will return the support to PDEA. It can be recalled that on December 7, the police conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Upper Bicutan where PDEA Southern District Office chief Enrique Lucero, agents Anthony Vic Alabastro and Jaireh Llaguno and driver Mark Warren Mallo were present. Php 9.18 million worth of shabu, 4 guns, scales and buy bust money were confiscated from the suspects.
